Don’t Forget to Feed Me is all about helping you, the pet owner, keep your furry friend at home no matter what your circumstances. That’s the whole reason we exist! Everything we do, we do for you and your pet. We are so glad that you found us. We are here to help.

Below, you’ll find the answers to the most common questions asked by people looking for assistance with pet food.  If after reading through these questions, you still need to contact us, feel free! Visit our contact page.

How can I get pet food?

DF2FM does not give out the pet food. We collect it and supply it to our distribution partners.

You will need to go to one of our distribution partners to get pet food.

Don’t Forget to Feed Me currently distributes pet food only in Tarrant County, Texas. If you live in Dallas or Collin County, we suggest contacting our friends at the Denton Hunger Coalition or Meals on Wheels Cleburne. Also the North Texas Pet Food Pantry. Please note: The North Texas Pet Food Pantry is a separate organization and is in no way affiliated with Don’t Forget to Feed Me. Their information is included here as referral information only.

How often can I get pet food?

Each distribution partner uses different schedules for client assistance. You will want to ask the distribution partner with which you work about how often you may pick up pet food.

Do I have to bring any paperwork with me?

Each distribution partner has different rules about what type of paperwork or identification you need to supply to get assistance. You will want to speak with the distribution partner about their rules.

Do I have to live in a certain place to get pet food?

Each distribution partner has different rules about where you need to live to get assistance. You will want to speak with the distribution partner about their rules. Community Food Bank in Fort Worth does NOT have any restrictions about where you must live.

I need more food than they gave me. Why can’t I get more food?

All of our distribution partners serve many, many deserving clients every day. To ensure fairness and that their supply of pet food goes to the most people possible, they portion out the pet food. If you feel that you have a special case and need more food than they provided to you, please contact the distribution partner and ask to speak to someone who can help with this issue. DF2FM does not tell our distribution partners how much pet food to give each client. 

My pet is picky or has special needs. Can I get a certain kind of pet food?

We give what we have. We cannot guarantee any brand or type of pet food. All of our food is donated, and it comes from many places and in many brands.

Can someone bring pet food to me?

Don’t Forget to Feed Me does not deliver pet food to clients.We simply do not have the resources, volunteers, staff, funding, transportation, etc. to do this.

Can I pick up pet food for someone else?

Each of our distribution partners has their own rules about picking up pet food for someone else. You will want to contact the distribution partner with which you are working to ask about their rules.

Can I have food for my rescue group?

DF2FM’s mission is to supply pet food to local food pantries in support of pet owners. By providing pet food for those in need during challenging financial times, we offer an option to surrendering – or worse, abandoning – a family pet.  While we understand the need of pet rescues for pet food, we do not have the resources to supply pet food to all the local rescues and shelters.

Can you help me find a new home for my pet?

DF2FM does not handle pet rescues or adoptions. If you are having financial difficulties which are causing you to consider giving up your pet because you can’t feed it, please reach out to one of our distribution partners listed above.

Can you help me adopt a pet?

We encourage you to adopt a pet instead of buying one! However, DF2FM does not handle pet rescues or adoptions. We recommend one of the following:

Can you help me get my pet vaccinated or spayed/neutered?

We encourage you to get your pet vaccinated and spayed or neutered! However, DF2FM does not handle these procedures. We recommend one of the following:
