Thinking of hosting a Pet Food Drive? That’s great! Not sure how to begin? No problem – Don’t Forget to Feed Me will be glad to help you get started.
Being as organized as you can possibly be will help your food drive run smoothly. Start by deciding who you are going to target as your donors – friends & family, organizations that you are involved in, a sports team… there are lots of possibilities!
Don’t forget that you may need to get permission to solicit for donations!
2. Get your ducks in a row
When are you starting? When are you ending? What are your goals? These are very important questions that, once you are able to answer them, will help your drive run smoothly.
3. Get your materials
Don’t Forget to Feed Me can provide you with donation boxes, info cards, posters, graphics, etc. for your drive. Email email@example.com for access to our materials.
We’ve already created a few basic flyers to help you get started:
- Pet Food Drive Flyer with Cash Option (For drives who will also accept money)
- Pet Food Drive Flyer, NO Cash Option (For drives who cannot accept money)
- Here’s a printable list of what we can accept.
4. Start spreading the word!
Now this is your time to get creative. What makes your pet food drive stand out? Is your dog or cat the chair-animal of your pet food drive? If you reach 500lbs is your coach going to get hit in the face with a pie? Have fun and more people will want to get involved.
Put up posters and flyers, spam your social media channels, use all of your resources to get people involved in your pet food drive. Post pictures of the pets of people who donate. Ask people what they would do if they couldn’t feed their pets.
Also – let us know what you’re doing for us! When we know someone is doing a food drive for us, we can put it up on our social media sites.
5. The wrap-up
Once your pet food drive is finished, be sure to thank people! People love helping a good cause, but they also need to know their contributions are appreciated.
Contact us via phone or email to set up a time to bring in your donations. If your drive has been super successful and you have more food than will fit in your vehicle, we can have our DF2FM truck come to your location and do a pick up.
We want to get a great picture of you and your donation when you bring it into the warehouse – we love advertising the great work our supporters do!
Pet food donations will be delivered to the DF2FM warehouse at 5825 E Rosedale Street, Fort Worth, TX 76112. We will work with you as much as we can to facilitate a good time for drop-offs.
