Food pantry adds pet food

The Mansfield pet food program kicked off earlier this month with support from project partners Petco and Don’t Forget to Feed Me, a Fort Worth-based charity that supplies pet food to local food pantries.

‘Doggie ice cream social’ raises money to help pet owners in need

FORT WORTH — Four hundred people attended a doggie ice cream social with their pooches Saturday at the Trinity Pavilion and raised $5,000 to supply dog food to owners who can’t afford it.

Bring your leashed, well-behaved pets to the market on June 23 between 8 a.m. and noon for a little fresh air, and talk to pet service providers, food and supply providers and enter to win raffles and prizes.  “Don’t Forget to Feed Me” will also be on hand to collect pet food, pet supplies and donations.

Genie – The protected and the protector

Sometimes lives intersect in ways that seem too perfect for coincidence, no matter what you think about a grand scheme of things or lack of one. Genie the pit bull found herself in that kind of situation about a year ago. She was abandoned at a Fort Worth Walmart, left lying in the middle of the road with nothing but a plastic bowl of water and another plastic bowl holding a little food.

Don’t Forget to Feed Me: a success story

We love seeing pets well-fed but realize it can be hard when a family has lots of mouths to feed.  So many Fort worth residents feel the same way that the Don’t Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Bank has moved to bigger digs at 3000 Galvez Ave. Founded two years ago to see whether providing pet food for needy families was a sustainable community service, the venture has been so successful that it’s looking into becoming its own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
